We moved onto Rincato which was a spot on the Gothic Line it's almost possible to see the line of death through the trees coming down one side of the hill and moving up the other side with a trail of rock which was used for bunkers. It really is Amazing that after almost 70 years there is still so much visably showing on the landscape. Some towns use it for tourist attractions, others you can see have tried to wipe away all signs, even though they still can remember where to point you to to be in the general area.
Borgo a Mozzano was a cute town, nice spirit, freindly people. This town has kept the memory alive, they have a museum and a monuement. While we were praying here Joyce found 2 euros (this is the prosperous part). This train station was used to transport italians to other fronts to work or others from the concentration camp (200 were being held, it's a manufacturing plants) who were anti fasists, Partisans would go to the death camps
Across the way(literally) was Anchiano, the Nazi's, the TODT(TheTodt Organisation (German: Organisation Todt) (OT) was a Third Reich civil and military engineering group in Germany named after it's founder,Fritz Todt, an engineer and senior Nazi figure. The organization wasb resposible for a huge range of engineering projects both in pre-World War II Germany, in Germany itself and occupied territories from France to the Soviet Union during the war. It became notorious for using forced labour. as they were called, were busy in these neck of the woods as they carved out of the rock a bunker which housed canons and a gunnery tower and across the Brennero Pass they had done the same, setting land mines and other traps for the American Troops. However, because of one little lady which smuggled topography maps to the U.S troops in Lucca they were able to avoid the area and the year and a half of work scooping out the mountain side and setting mines was for nothing as the U.S troops avoided the area and sent the Nazie's scrambeling.
